Keyon Slowly is a highly regarded Canadian producer in the Vancouver film industry. Keyon is CEO and Executive Producer for Escuro Studios, his newly launched production company. Born and raised in Scarborough, ON, to Jamaican immigrants, Keyon was a student athlete, who was recruited to play football at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC. After suffering two life-altering injuries, Keyon pivoted towards a career in corporate banking before making a sharp and unexpected turn into Vancouver’s highly regarded film industry.
Keyon started out as a Grip; learning the ins and outs of camera and lighting work; and amassing more than 5 years of professional experience on high budget globally recognized film and television productions. Keyon worked his way up and became one of only 150 Libra head technicians in the world. By leveraging these skills, Keyon founded Escuro Studios, one of Vancouver’s top music video and commercial production companies; partnering with artists such as Diplo, Kardinal Offishal, FRVR Friday, Dirty Radio, Night Lovell, Elijah Woods and Jaime Fine. Escuro produces music videos, commercials, campaigns, branded content, and is currently beginning the development of television series, and feature films.
Keyon has diligently assembled and managed teams of various sizes ranging from 20 to 100 crew members, delivering projects with budgets of over $500K CAD. His focus with Escuro is to provide grounded and powerful stories, transforming ideas into alluring and impactful visual narratives. He celebrates the success Escuro has had in turning advertisement into authentic engagement. With the launch of his own production company, Keyon is looking forward to continuing to hone his craft while building meaningful connections with other entertainment industry professionals and new clients looking to have their stories and brand shared.
