Carmen Alatorre

Costume Design

I am a Latinx artist originally from Mexico and have designed costumes in over 80 theatre productions. I am grateful to be able to live and work in the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Squamish Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and Tsleil-Waututh səl̓ilwətaɁɬ First Nations (Vancouver) since 2006, where I earned an MFA in theatre design from the University of British Columbia and where I have taught as an adjunct professor. I am currently collaborating with The Electric Company Theatre as an artistic associate.

I am the recipient of 3 Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards for Outstanding Costume Design as well as an Applause Musicals Society Ovation Award. I am a proud member of the Associated Designers of Canada.
