Vince D’Amato is the founder and managing partner of Darkside Releasing, a genre film distribution company based in Vancouver, BC since 2017; and it’s a company that Vince clearly identifies as a Canadian Metis-owned company. Darkside Releasing has been active in dozens of international film markets and has established collaborative relationships with key distribution partners in Canada, the USA, Latin America, and the UK. In addition to running Darkside Releasing, Vince has written and directed seven internationally-distributed feature films over the past two decades. Recently, he has refocused his film-producing role and has begun working with other genre writers and directors through his distribution company, including cult Canadian filmmaker Chris Alexander.
Darkside Releasing’s core distribution team of Vince D’Amato and Nicole D’Amato have personally been involved in the film and media industry and creating entertaining fictional content since 2001. They also founded the not-for-profit Cinemafantastique film festival in Vancouver, doing annual work with VIFF, Women in FIlm and Television Vancouver, the Vancouver Queer Film Festival, National Canadian Film Day, and the Vancouver Short Film Festival.
