Tanvi Bhatia

Tanvi Bhatia is an emerging screenwriter who immigrated from India to Vancouver at a young age. Her background is in the literary world; her non-fiction and comics have been published in the Tyee, the Toronto Star, SAD Mag, Maisonneuve and elsewhere. She worked as a magazine editor for several years, first at PRISM international and later at Geist magazine.
Her interest in film and television was piqued when she took her first screenwriting class, which led her to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. She is the writer of two short educational films, and her stage play, “Cross-Cultural Exchange,” was selected for a full production in the 2020 Brave New Play Rites Festival.
In 2023, Tanvi was awarded a residency with the Pacific Screenwriting Program’s Scripted Series Lab where she polished and pitched her one-hour drama pilot, “Big Om.” Following that, shecompleted an internship on Season 17 of “Heartland.”
