Cicy Nie

Cicy Nie is a Chinese Canadian writer, producer, and story editor. Following a successful career as a commercial banker, in 2021, Cicy jumped from banking to filmmaking to pursue her passion. She graduated from Vancouver Film School Writing for Film & TV and has developed a portfolio of various feature, TV episode and game scripts. Her feature script “How to Break Parents’ Relationship” was a quarterfinalist in the 2022 Final Draft Big Break Script Competition.
The short film Cicy wrote and produced, “The Uninvited Guest”, was the winner of Best Horror at the 2023 Toronto Indie Shorts Film Festival. The short also won her the Best First-Time Short Filmmaker awards from Texas Arthouse Film Festival and Tokyo Shorts Film Festival.
As an immigrant, Cicy was born and raised in China and moved to Canada for university. She also spent six months in Belgium for an exchange term during which she travelled to seventeen cities in eleven European countries. Cicy’s unique background and experience have envisioned her with global, dynamic, and inclusive views.
