Shyam Valera is the co-founder and lead producer at Dunya Media, a production company that empowers artists of colour to tell stories with purpose, joy, and wonder. A CMPA “Next Generation Producer to Watch”,, Shyam has joined the CMPA-BC’s board directly, and co-chairs the Motion Picture Production Industry Association of BC’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Shyam has produced a series of short films, ad campaigns and national commercials laser focused on BIPOC stories with impact, wonder and meaningful social good.
With a focus on promoting underrepresented voices to global audiences, Shyam leads Dunya’s operations and business development, focusing on building and maintaining relationships that make investors, industry partners, filmmakers, and crews work in sync, growing a supportive corporate culture that inspires people’s best work.
Shyam is always looking to connect with filmmakers and other producers to help their projects come to life.
