Rryla McIntosh
Actor
From my early days as a background performer to having a lead role in a Disney movie, my passion for film has been fiercely
present. Starting with nothing and no mentors in the industry I worked my way up from the bottom to a place that I am very proud. I have worked alongside some of my idols, best friends, Academy Award winners, children, dogs, mummies and more. I’ve performed full dance scenes, and fight sequences and climbed down the side of a mountain. My films have been across continents and to some of the top film festivals, one selected for the Not Short on Talent Circuit at the 75th Cannes Film Festival. I am continually working on my craft and love each minute of it. I know now that this is what I am forever passionate about and have no other choice but to continue this wild career in the film industry.
Though I have mainly been a part of the film industry as an actor, I recently have become a first-time filmmaker. I had written multiple shorts but had not yet dove into bringing those stories to life. The next step towards creating my own film was beautifully synchronized. Summer of 2023 I was accepted into the Being Black In Canada Program. With the help of the program, I wrote and directed my first short film, Silver Linings. This film will begin the film circuit in 2024 and will be screened at all the black film festivals across Canada. All that I have learned about both, narrative and documentary filmmaking, has been so invigorating and I look forward to bringing more of my stories to life. Being versed in different areas of film has given me such a unique perspective and drive. I cannot wait to connect and create with other passionate people looking to tell stunning stories.
