Earl Lingasin

Writer · Director · Producer

Earl Lingasin writes, directs and produces out of Vancouver. His work focuses on what happens after the dust settles: the heavy, quiet psychological fallout of extreme human experience. It is a world he knows intimately. Before picking up a camera, Earl served as a JTF2 member in Canada's Special Operations Forces.

The years he spent in that insular, high-stakes environment gave him a creative perspective that cannot be learned in film school. Today, he uses that hard-won discipline to shape uncompromising, deeply human stories.

Through his production banner, The Silent Soldier Initiative (TSSI), Earl tackles identity loss, institutional betrayal and the trauma passed down through military, police and family bloodlines. His approach is built on a direct, peer-to-peer framework. By bypassing traditional military public-relations and public-affairs gatekeepers, he connects with his subjects as an equal. The result is a raw stripping-away of emotional armour that civilian filmmakers rarely capture on camera.

Earl is currently directing and producing a dual-format documentary project: Silent Battles, a 90-minute feature film, and its eight-part companion limited series, The War That Follows. The project started as a deeply personal effort to understand his father's combat legacy in the 1970s Philippine insurgencies, but has since expanded into a sweeping, multinational investigation into moral injury and survival.

Visually, Earl leans into a shadow-heavy, high-contrast aesthetic. He actively rejects frantic action-camera tropes, preferring a deliberate, quiet pace that allows tension to breathe. He is committed to diversifying the film industry from the inside out, building veteran-led production crews and championing underrepresented, authentic voices ready to take back ownership of their own stories.
