Ritika Anand
Producer | Actor
Ritika Anand is a producer by profession and an actor and dancer by passion. From the start of her career as a professional actor in the Indian television industry, Anand has been immersed in the film industry and learned that producing her own content would give her the opportunity to address subjects that were otherwise ignored by mainstream sources.
Anand’s work in India includes short films, soap operas, docu-dramas and telefilms, all of which address a variety of social issues in India & Canada. Anand has worked closely with acclaimed Director and now her husband, Shailender Vyas on a number of projects, including Lost, which was awarded the Award of Excellence in 2010 and Palki which was awarded the legislative assembly awarded in 2006. Anand was also nominated as 1 of 2 and the youngest ever finalist for the immigrant of distinction award in 2012 in the field of Arts & Culture.
Furthering her passion for dance, Anand has given back to her community by creating Miracle Rhythms, a program designed to teach children about the therapeutic powers of dance and music. She intends to take this program to the next level by including a documentary tracking the positive changes the program provides to its students.
As an actor, Anand has been performing since she was a child — she is a performer in her heart and soul and loves to be in front of audiences. In Three Colours and a Canvas, she undertook her most challenging role to date, portraying a character that is an exact opposite of her off-screen self by experimenting with her look, accent, posture, walk and performance style. Anand is continuously striving to improve her performances and production skills to think outside the box to prove, to herself more than anyone, that she can surpass any obstacles in her way.
