Emiliano Urquiza
Producer | Director
Emiliano is a dynamic and culturally-aware filmmaker with a diverse set of experiences that have shaped his artistic vision. Born and raised in Mexico City, Emiliano witnessed first-hand the city's complex colonial history, organized crime, and corrupt government. However, he also developed a deep appreciation for Mexico's vibrant culture and the legacy of its ancient natives. Emiliano's worldview is characterized by a global perspective, one that values the uniqueness of individual cultures and challenges an American-centric view of the world.
Upon moving to Canada, Emiliano was exposed to a new set of values that emphasized community and multiculturalism. As he sought to capture the essence of his new environment, he found a passion for film and pursued a degree in film production at the University of British Columbia. During his time there, Emiliano wrote, directed, and produced several short films that explored a range of themes and genres. From his thriller "On the Road Again," which delves into issues of moral justice, to his coming-of-age story about childhood bullying, which explores themes of individuality and justice, Emiliano's work consistently examines what justice means and how it is defined.
Emiliano has continued to hone his craft in the film industry, working on high-profile TV shows such as "The Last of Us" and "Big Sky" as an assistant to the producers. As an emerging director/producer, Emiliano is eager to bring his unique perspective and artistic vision to the forefront of the industry.
