Shalyn Ferdinand
Actor | Comedian | Writer
Shalyn Ferdinand, or Shay for short, is a versatile Actor, Comedian, Instructor, and Racial Equity Consultant. She is honoured and privileged to be able to combine her love for people, storytelling, and positive social change.
Born and raised in a small Canadian town by an immigrant father (her Trini dad, if you will) and French-Italian mother, Shay was immersed in competitive sports, public speaking tournaments, and theatre camps. She then studied Linguistics at Carleton University, holds certificates in Leadership and Community Studies, a diploma in Public Relations, a degree in Professional Communication, and too many theatre courses to list. In 2017, Shay began pursuing her childhood dream of working in the film industry and has been thriving in multiple roles ever since.
Shay passionately facilitates diversity, equity, and inclusion workshops to implement authentic representation and safe work environments for everyone. She also teaches a variety of acting classes at the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts and offers private coaching for actors of all ages. And of course, she loves character development; professionally and personally, to explore the human condition and connect from the stage and screen.
When she’s not teaching, on set, or at the beach, Shay is always seeking new opportunities to collaborate.
