Nima Gholamipour
Writer | Director | Multimedia Artist | Performer
Nima Gholamipour is an Iranian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, writer and performer based in Vancouver BC. After obtaining his Animation Diploma from Capilano University in 2012, Nima honed his skills as a professional animator and illustrator whilst also performing, producing and directing Improv, sketch and stand-up comedy across North America. In 2018, he shifted careers and established himself as a freelance artist and independent filmmaker. That same year he participated in the Vancouver International Film Festival’s mentorship program and his directorial debut, the dramatic short film “Losing Spoons” premiered as an official selection at the Whistler International Film Festival. The short film is now playing as a part of CBC’s Reflection Series on CBC Gem.
As a true multipotentialite, Nima approaches his many creative outlets with an uncompromised aesthetic, striving for simplicity and purity. He pairs non-conventional storytelling with a structurally practical style that also allows for moments of nuanced truth and playful improvisation. Often drawing his inspiration from human relationships, Nima explores the terms in which we as humans connect and disconnect with each other and our natural—or nowadays, digital—landscapes.
