Andrea Menard is an accomplished Métis singer, songwriter, actress, and writer. Born in Manitoba, Andrea is a proud member of the Metis Nation of Canada. She carries the name Skooteah Equahh, which means Fire Woman in Anishinaabe and the Cree name Notigwew Yutin, which means Grandmother Wind.
One of the stars of the APTN/Netflix series, Blackstone, Andrea is a five-time Gemini-nominated actress for her leading roles in Rabbit Fall (Space, APTN) Moccasin Flats (Showcase, APTN, CBC), The Velvet Devil (CBC, APTN), Sparkle, (APTN, CBC) and Wapos Bay (APTN). Andrea has recorded four critically acclaimed albums is a 15-time music award winner. She debuted her own jazz symphony show with the Regina Symphony Orchestra and is currently on a second symphony Pops show called, Rubaboo, which is the Michif word for stew.
Andrea co-wrote and starred in the adaptation of her one-woman musical stage play The Velvet Devil, which debuted on the CBC television series Opening Night in 2006. The made-for-television movie was produced by Westwind Pictures and garnered a total of 13 Showcase awards, including Best Original Script, and Best Dramatic Feature. In 2011, Andrea collaborated with Wabunganung Films and wrote a 70-minute holiday special for APTN called Sparkle: An Evening with Andrea Menard, which aired for six seasons. Her miniseries, The Deadly Women, co-written with Paula Costain, is currently in development.
